HOMEOPATHIC PRINCIPLES:
POTENCY: ‘TWO TYPES OF MATHS’
Most people’s introduction to homeopathy is through ‘X’ or ‘C’ potency.
‘X’, ‘C’ AND ‘M’ ARE DIFFERENT
As stated in ‘Potency - Letters & Numbers’, this site believes
it is best to view ‘X’ remedies as ‘less potent’ than ‘C’ remedies
and ‘C-remedies’ are ‘less potent’ than ‘M-remedies’ -
but this is not always reflected in ‘homeopathic maths’.
TWO WAYS TO ‘DO HOMEOPATHIC POTENCY-MATHS’
The two ‘potency-maths’ are
- ‘number times roman numeral, or
roman numeral ‘to the power of’ the number -
where ‘X’ is 10, ‘C’ is 100 and ‘M’ is 1,000.
BOTH WAYS CREATE A ‘MESSAGE-STRENGTH DISTORTION’
Both methods create their own distortion that mathematically,
a ‘certain X-potency is the same as a certain C potency’,
which ignores the important homeopathic principle of the
major difference in ‘vibrational energy of the resulting message’
that each ‘X’ or ‘C’ potency manufacturing process underlyingly creates.
Each ‘distortion’ is explained below.
‘HOMEOPATHIC ‘BEGINNERS MATHS’ -
THE NUMBER TIMES THE ROMAN NUMERAL-LETTER
This maths is ‘homeopathically a bit simple’,
but for a beginner’s guide to potency, it can be beneficial to
treat X as ‘times 10’, C as ‘times 100’ and M as ‘times 1,000’.
Examples
6X is 6 x 10 or ‘60’ potency
3C is 3 x 100 or ‘300’ potency
30X is 30 x 10 or ‘300’ potency
6C is 6 x 100 or ‘600’ potency
1M is 1 x 1,000 or ‘1,000’ potency
30C is 30 x 100 or ‘3,000’ potency
200C is 200 x 100 or ‘20,000’ potency
This is a very easy way to mathematically-see
the difference in ‘strength’ each type of potency may provide.
However, this can create misconceptions -
eg 3C (3 x 100) and 30X (30 x 10) are ‘the same’,
because they both give a result of ‘300’.
This does not reflect this site’s stance that ‘X’, ‘C’ and ‘M’ potency
are fundamentally vibrationally/energetically different.
It can also lead to the view that a 1M remedy is ‘less potent’ than a 30C remedy.

‘HOMEOPATHIC ‘ADVANCED MATHS’ -
THE ROMAN NUMERAL-LETTER TO THE POWER OF THE NUMBER
This maths is often favoured in homeopathy but also creates its own ‘distortion’.
For example -
6X is ‘X to the power of 6’ or ‘10 to the power of 6’
or 1 followed by 6 single zeros
that is 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 or 1,000,000 (1 million)
3C is ‘C to the power of 3’ or ‘100 to the power of 3’
or 1 followed by 3 double zeros
that is 1 00 00 00 or 1,000,000 (1 million)
This suggests that 6X and 3C - ‘using to the power of maths’ -
are ‘homeopathically the same’.
Again though, this does not reflect this site’s stance that ‘X’, ‘C’ and ‘M’ potency
are fundamentally vibrationally/energetically different.
