REMEDY TYPES
There are many different types of homeopathic remedies
in terms of what the ‘base substance’ is.
This site focuses on remedies made from naturally-occuring, ‘healthy’ substances -
that is, does not consider anything made from diseased material,
or more often made-in-the-labratory substances,
nor anything ‘non-physical’, although recognises the
existence and use of such within homeopathy.
REMEDY FORMS
For the purposes of this site, 3 main forms of remedy are focused on:
- lactose tablet
- liquid tincture
- sugar pillule
LACTOSE-BASED TABLET
Most commonly associated with the production of ‘X-potency’ remedies.
LIQUID TINCTURE
Most common form used to make ‘C’ and ‘M’ potencies.
A mix of alcohol and (purified/filtered) water is used as the ‘medium’
within which the ‘base material’ is ‘diluted/reduced’,
as well as from which the resulting remedy can be dispensed from.
60/40 alcohol/water is often referred to as the ‘Mother Tincture’
from which subsequent/additional supplies of the remedy can be made from.
Subsequent tinctures can be much less alcohol and more water
- which is often appropriate for general use -
and even ‘nearly all-water’ for short term use,
or for use with young people,
or non-alcohol consumers,
or for ex-alcoholics.
SUGAR PILLULES
A convenient form for transportation and ease of use.
Basically a small ball of sugar that has been ‘coated/exposed-to’ tincture -
especially Mother Tincture for ‘off-the-shelf’ versions.
Very common form for ‘C’ and ‘M’ potencies sold at retail outlets.
