MIGRAINES Defintiely suffered from migraines from about 8 or so years old. Also remeMber often having headache tablet crushed in honey earlier than that. AT YOUNGER AGE Probably not drinking enough water was a factor for my earlier-in-life headaches - before age 10 - that eventually became more like migraines - also probably not helped by the softball bat incident. TEEN YEARS Certainly had a more often sore head after the chair-to-the-back-of-the-head incident. MID TWENTIES Dropping the machine sideways on a hill didn’t help either. OFTEN STARTED IN AND AROUND THE LEFT EYE This is a common early sign for me. Usually associated with eating too much dry food - especially corn chip or wheat biscuits - meaning the bowel contents end up a bit too dry/hard as well. TIGHT BAND AROUND THE HEAD ALSO COMMON Right around but especially sore/tender at the back/occiptal area. TILTING HEAD BACK - CAUSE & PAIN INCREASER Often becomes difficult to move the head as it causes more pain. Having head tilted back can lead to migraine an/or make an existing one worse. SENSITIVE TO LIGHT Not so common for me in recent times but definitely a factor in the past - darkened room much better. OTHER RELIEVERS FOR ME Taking Vit B as supplement or food Sips of ice water held as long as possible in my mouth - even aiming to ‘chill’ my teeth, especially the upper ones - or at least the roof of my mouth. Ice/Cold-pack onto closed eye lids - especially the left one. Sometimes also on the forehead or where-ever my skull is sore. Vomiting (least preferred option) - self-induced or natural. Warm or cold water onto back of neck. Warm bath with ice pack on head. Homoepathic tissalts - especially Magnesium or ComboA. ©Self-Physi-Chiro© stretches - especially for the shoulders/neck, BUT this can bring on more pain in the short term for faster relief overall - better results if done as preventative or very early in ‘onset’. USUALLY CAN MITIGATE WITHIN 2-3 HOURS With my range of techniques as listed immediately above, I can usually be ‘operable’ again within 2 to 3 hours, or at least halt the progression of the migraine so the recovery is less taxing. OCCASIONALLY MIGRAINES WIN Even with my now-usual success, occasional the migraine wins either by lasting longer and/or being more intense than ‘usual’ - or taking so much energy to ‘fight’ that I’m pretty well exhausted for next 6 to 12 hours - thankfully this is now the exception rather than the rule. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ (Back) To… ‘Effects of Injuries’ List Page (Back) To… “S-P-C” Site Overview Map ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ WARNING: “Self-Physi-Chiro” may make it easier for you to form positive changes within and to your health/life. “SteveKineez” ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ For whole site overview, visit … Steve “Kineez” SITE MAP Site-Wide Disclaimer and Copyright Notices
