BOWEN MASSAGE I acknowledge there are many styles of every health protocol/sector and each Practitioner within often has their own particular preferences/techniques. MAIN FOCUS ON NECK AND SHOULDERS I went to one practitioner at least twice and maybe a third time - probably around 1990. Most of the session time was focusing on the neck and shoulders region. SIGNIFICANT TIGHTNESS FOUND The practitioner in found particular tightness across the top of the right shoulder, especially within the ‘space’ next to the base of my neck. To there, they applied significant pressure via their thumbs onto a very findable ‘ball of fibres in an attempt to ease the tension there. MOST PRESSURE ‘EVER’ APPLIED The practitioner applied increasing pressure, often checking with me if the pain was still bearable and if so, they would ‘back off’. The pain was significant but somehow felt appropriate and was definitely within an area that was causing significant pain anyway. Many minutes of pressure was applied but it got to a stage where the practitioner stated they could no longer physically continue applying such intense pressure - in fact, they needed a rest from applying any pressure at all. They were amazed how much pressure I allowed to be applied, stating they had never applied so much pressure for so long on any other client and that it must have been very painful for me. It was, but it still felt like some benefit was happening, with more to come. SHORT TERM BENEFITS Unfortunately the benefits I did get from the sessions did not last long - maybe because we were working on such specific areas of the body, when the underlying problems were far more spread across my body. DEVELOPMENT OF THE ‘BODY TOOL’ The experience here did inspire me to design and use what I called the ‘body tool’, to help find pain-points - Click/Tap here for more about the ‘Body Tool’. CURRENTLY TRYING A DIFFERENT VERSION After many decades, I have recently decided to again include some professional ‘physical therapies’, mainly because the improvements “S-P-C” is now producing - bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments ‘adjust’ easier and stay ‘adjusted’ - is at a point where some other physical technique may be of assistance. So Bowen is being ‘revisited’ with a version that focuses on ‘reseting’ upper and lower body muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia.
