PHYSIOTHERAPY
I acknowledge there are many styles of every health protocol/sector and that
each Practitioner within, often has their own particular preferences/techniques.
LATE 70S, EARLY 80s
I believe I first tried physio either in the very late 1970s
or definitiely in the early 1980s.
Seem to remember getting a few sessions of
‘ultra-sound’ applied to my right knee.
I might have had similar done to my right shoulder a few times.
Some short term relief was achieved.
FAST FORWARD TO 2016
Not sure if I had physio done on me between the early 1980s and middish-2015
- if I did, it hasn’t stuck in my memory.
In 2015, I had 6 physio sessions on my right shoulder,
that was injured at work using a walk-along forklift,
that had a ‘hair-trigger’ on the auto-stop mechanism,
leading to a few too many near-yank-the-arm-off incidents.
To give the physio the best chance of ‘working’,
I regularly did the exercises suggested by the Physio,
as well as not getting any Kinesiology done on the shoulder during this time.
The physio was very hands-on, massage based.
The results were ok-ish but very short-lived.
PREFER ‘SELF-PHYSIO’ NOW
One of the key aspects of any therapy is for the recipient of that therapy,
to do plenty of ‘support-exercises’ in their own time.
In essence, the ‘self-physio’ aspect of ©S-P-C©
includes the type of ‘support-exercise’ often recommended by physical-therapists,
so my preference is to every day do some sort of these exercises
and predominantly use that as my ‘treatment’
rather than using an actual physical-therapist.
